Conduit Engine by Conduit Ltd. was a potentially unwanted program (PUP) categorized as adware that offered toolbar and search engine functionalities. Although marketed as a tool to enhance browsing experience, Conduit Engine was known to modify browser settings, redirect search queries, display unwanted ads, and track user browsing behavior without explicit consent.

One of the key characteristics of Conduit Engine was its ability to infiltrate users' browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox, through software bundling or deceptive tactics. Once installed, it could alter the default search engine, homepage, and tab settings to redirect users to Conduit's search portal or affiliated sites.

Conduit Engine operated by displaying intrusive advertisements in the form of pop-ups, banners, in-text links, and sponsored search results. These ads often led to potentially unsafe websites or promoted questionable products/services. The adware also collected user data such as browsing history, IP addresses, and search queries to deliver targeted advertisements.

Due to concerns over privacy violations, browser hijacking, diminished browsing performance, and exposure to potential security risks associated with Conduit Engine's ad-serving practices, security experts recommended its removal. Users were advised to uninstall the program through their browser settings or trusted security software tools to restore browser integrity and protect their online activities.
